- ➤ La Joya Community High School is hosting its annual Remembrance Run-Walk on Sept 11 at its track, with the event starting at 7:25 a.m. and running through class periods until 2 p.m.—community members who wish to participate should check in with school security upon arrival. West Valley View
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Buckeye City Council received a proposal to annex 1,918.85 acres of farmland bounded by Broadway Road, Jackrabbit Trail, MC 85, and Dean Road for future industrial, commercial, and residential development. Planning Manager Ken Galica said a public hearing on Aug. 26 passed without objections and a Planning Commission review will be held on Oct. 28 to consider changing the land’s zoning to R1-43—suitable for large-lot single-family homes.
