- ➤ A Buckeye man was arrested after he pointed a gun at an officer during an hours-long standoff near Miller and Southern roads on July 28 when officers responded to a welfare check on Dove Circle and subdued him with less-lethal rounds as he ignored commands (he faces multiple felony charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sen. Ruben Gallego will visit the West Valley to deliver a Capitol update (his first West Valley chamber event) at Estrella Mountain Community College from noon to 1 p.m. on August 13, and West Valley Regional Chamber President Jeffery Campos said the update may lead to discussions on legislation that could affect local businesses (including impacts on tax, manufacturing and supply chains).
